About this deal

The only times where the camera won’t work is when you want to get close to your subject, or when you want to take group selfies. The camera doesn’t focus closer than 1 meter, or 3.3 feet, meaning anything closer than that will be blurry. These specs are pretty basic, similar to that of a disposable camera. But if you’re going to buy a new film camera then I think you may as well go for this one. The Kodak Ektar H35 VS The Kodak Ultra F9 So, on September 20, 2021, the Kodak Ultra F9 was born, an incredibly basic camera that can be bought wholesale from Alibaba, (this is why there are so many other versions of it, like the Ilford Sprite II). This not-so-special camera filled a bit of a gap but let’s face it, there isn’t much to it. You’ll want to support a repair shop by getting any vintage camera serviced so as not to waste film and money on a broken or soon-to-break oldie, but don’t whine that Kodak doesn’t offer a new half-frame camera of the quirky caliber of these classics. The cost to build such a precision optical, mechanical device today could hardly be profitable. Should You Buy It? The Ektar H35 camera also comes with a built-in flash and a small and light body. It is designed to be handy and easy-to-use. With KODAK EKTAR H35, you will be ready to capture treasurable moments - anywhere, any time.

Personally, I liked shooting with the H35. Don’t get me wrong, you’re under no illusion that you’re shooting a high quality camera but for what it is, the H35 is great.

You can find some of the best qualities of the top street photography cameras in the Kodak Ektar H35. I would suggest using Kodak Ultramax 400 or Kodak Colorplus if you’re wanting to shoot colour. I would err towards Ultramax just because it’s a bit more sensitive than Colorplus, so it’ll be good in a variety of situations.

First, Ektar is a single ISO speed film, 100. A good choice, in my opinion, as in full daylight , this ISO works with 𝒇8/500 — a combination that can yield sharper images on most film cameras. And with a fast enough lens, it can be used in the shadows without a tripod. Film-saving: You can have twice as many images per roll. For example, a film roll with 36 exposures can yield around 72 half-frame photos - doubled!Any time that you’re in ‘low light’ you want to use your flash. Low light is when you’re indoors, it’s dusk or dawn or you find yourself outside in a dimly lit area. You’ll get used to knowing when to use your flash, but it’ll save you from a lot of underexposed shots! Aim For The Middle Of The Lens Of course you can use some more expensive film but there isn’t really much point with a camera like this. The HP5 has a pretty bad lens and good film won’t change that! Keep this in mind when photographing, as the more still you are with your camera, the better your results will be. I will get onto this in more detail a bit further on. The simple, fuss-free operation of the camera makes it the perfect choice for anyone who wants to have fun capturing candid photos of their friends and family. I capture so many more smiles on a camera like this than any other in my kit. And that includes digital, where I can shoot 10 frames per second.

Ektar 100 Film Review: “World’s Finest Grain” Kodak Ektar 100 Film Review: “World’s Finest Grain”

I honestly kind of like the overall aesthetic of the H35, it’s got a nice vintage feel, and I think they decided to go for something similar to the old Kodak Instamatic. But that said it has a good lens for a plastic full frame camera. It is slightly more soft here as you are effectively cropping standard VUWS image. But even at half frame in good light with the right film it does you lo-fi proud. You need to take your time with these cameras because the shutter speed is only 1/120. This means that there’s a chance that you could take a blurry shot if you’re not taking your time.

Kodak Ektar H35 review | Digital Camera World

For many new or casual users, these optical aberrations and flaws will be irrelevant and may even be desirable. Lomography has made an entire business out of selling lo-fi camera gear. There’s space for this sort of imperfection in this hobby, and the H35 adds to that space. The only way to avoid this is to be careful when shooting into the sun. I suspect it is because the sun is right on the edge of the frame. So it may be best to ensure the sun doesn’t sit directly on either side of the frame. In this image, you can see a light leak from one spilling over into the next Alternatives The pictures above are from the Kodak H35 and despite the fact that it’s a half-frame camera with a pretty nothingy lens, I’d still say these shots are just fine. I wouldn’t say there’s anything particularly bad about them.
