Where the X49 projects, the KS2 invites. Where the X49 exudes prominent confidence, the KS2 emits quiet assurance. Where the X49 provides robust, but untamed bass, the KS2 gives quality and present bass. You get the point. If you want a more in your face/EDM type of bud, the X49 would be a good choice. If you want a more mellow (KBEar’s own words) sound, which provides good quality, then the KS2 is the choice.

My biggest dig at the KS2 is that I feel like the earphones are having an identity crisis. The boosted bass feels like it should be marketed to those who love bass-heavy music, but the inability to separate instrumentation and similar frequencies completely destroys EDM and like genres. In my opinion, the best-served genre for the KS2 is, surprisingly, acoustic, or lo-fi electronic. This unit has been provided by the HIFIGO team as I’m being part of the HIFIGO review circle. This review is completely based on my opinion and I’m not influenced by any person to manipulate the review. Thanks to Pulkit Chugh for taking me in this review circle and the HIFIGO team for arranging this review circle. This review is completely subjective and it’s based on my sources and experience with IEM’S with similar configuration. The treble is clear with a slight thin note weight , it's not bothersome or too bright but it add some pazzaz to the sound. Detail of treble is medium level with some peaks. Tl;dr : 1DD setup. Safe V-shaped tuning with a cool/dry tonality. Bass is plenty boomy and midrange sunken with voices not rendered properly. Highs are well controlled and extend without sibilance. It pairs well with warm and smooth sources. Very easy to drive. The treble is smooth but has a slight peak adding to the fun signature of the IEM. For some people it might sound sibilant, but for me with Cayin N6ii with A01 which is a warm source I didn’t notice the sibilance.Bass – Lots of bass without muddying the sound. Punchy and mid-bass dominant. There is, surprisingly, sub-bass. But don’t expect a rumble. It’s audible and that in itself is a huge compliment for earbuds. It stays fairly controlled, tight and is very engaging. It is also way more textured than my other buds. I’d take this over my other flathead buds (not semi in-ear) if we’re talking about bass.

Imaging Average, and possibly even something less. Too often I hear instrument and voices tending to position towards the center of the stage instead of being more properly distributed around it. According to KBEAR the cable consists out of strands of 6N OFC high-quality wires. The cable has an exchangeable 2PIN wire design which allows easy cable rolling. The mid-bass is more emphasised and for me it is the quality of the bass which stands out, it does not overwhelm, so that it is not thumpy or lumpy, it is smooth and relaxing. This list is meant to be used as a reference point. I highly recommend against blind-buying and suggest to have a listen to the IEMs yourself. By all means, use this to shortlist what you should try in the future but don’t take it as gospel.
