About this deal

Some children love being able to set up crafts and activities on their own as it helps to grow their confidence and curiosity. Plus, if they’re a part of making something really cool then that likely means that they’re going to be really excited to dig into it right away. This change of mind return policy is in addition to, and does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law including any rights you may have in respect of faulty items. Kids can also experiment with creating impression fossils with the toy dinosaur bones. For a more advanced fine motor workout, give your child a pair of tongs for removing the dinosaur bones from the sand. Our oldest daughter really loves using the paintbrushes to clean off her dinosaur “fossils.” She can play on her own in this dinosaur dig sensory bin for a good hour. When all the fossils are removed and identified, rebury them and dig again! Here are some other ideas for play:

Here’s the cool part about making a dinosaur sensory bin—it’s not hard at all! In fact, while you have the option to set it up all on your own, you can actually let your child help out as well. Toss in paintbrushes, shovels, scoops, plastic cookie cutters, toy cars, etc., and let your kids’ imaginations go wild. Sensory bins are a clever DIY activity for many reasons. Not only are they fun and can be considered “messy play” for kids, but they also invite kids to use their hands and eyes to learn, play, and make new discoveries. I am awful at tidying Adam’s play activities. The next day the Tuff Spot, dinosaurs and diggers were still outside. However, the home made kinetic sand had dried out and had turned into a chalky substance that was hard but turned to dust when you moved it in yours hands. To my surprise Adam acted out the story completely by himself using the repetitive language in the book. He went inside a retrieved the blue container we had used for the swimming pool and set about creating the pool again. Dinosaur Dig is certainly a huge hit in our household! Sensory bins are one of the best creative tools for learning and play. In this post, learn how easy and fun it is to make a Kinetic Sand Dinosaur Sensory Binthat will invite fine motor growth and playful learning about dinosaurs.

I like to add in one new activity to the girls’ DIY kinetic sand sensory bin each time we break out the bin, to make the experience a little bit different and unique. Most recently, we added plastic cookie cutters into the mix, allowing the kids to make new shapes and molds with their kinetic sand. They were a big hit. This sensory activity is so simple to set up! All you need is kinetic sand and plastic dinosaur skeletons. Bury the dinosaur bones, then invite your preschooler to uncover them using only the bristles and handle of a paintbrush or toothbrush. After the boneshave been excavated, invite your young scientist to identifythe dinosaur. We like to use these kids science books: optional: plastic shovels or scoops, plastic cookie cutters, plastic or metal toy cars, paintbrushes, etc. If you’re not familiar with kinetic sand, it is totally awesome. Basically, this fancy schmany sand feels like beach sand, yet holds and molds together like play dough. It’s actually really fun to play with mold, and surprisingly soothing to handle. It also never dries out and is easy to clean up. #science
