About this deal

The 3 pivoting blades can be adjusted to cut grass any height from 20mm to 60mm. High specification deep tread wheels and powerful drive system grips slopes of up to 35% (19º). There are two mowing functions to choose from, either a random or spiral cutting pattern.

As I mentioned, I tried this machine out on my 100m² front lawn and within three hours, it had as good as completed the entire thing with power to spare. Typically, you’ll get around four hours out of a single charge, but this does depend on the conditions such as whether there are any slopes or how bumpy the ground is. The LawnMaster L10 is unusual among robot lawnmowers in that it doesn’t give you much control. As with most robot mowers around this price, it follows a random pattern around your lawn, using the principle that if it keeps mowing it will cover the entire lawn eventually.I’ll cover the three most important aspects you need to consider – garden type, price, practicalities – and point out exactly what you should look for in each section. Giving you a much clearer idea in your head of which robotic mower would suit you and your lawn best. This should make the selection process much easier. Beginners Guide To Purchasing & Choosing A Robotic Mower One of the things I noticed when I was setting the LawnMaster VBRM16 up was that it comes with a safety key. This is something you normally see with cordless lawn mowers so I felt it was a nice touch. The benefit of this is that you don’t need to worry about any accidental start ups if you have kids. Just take the key out and there’s no way for the mower to be started even if the battery is fitted. What’s Included In The Box?

Make sure that the battery indicator is green and has sufficient charge to perform the software update. For more information on adapting your lawn to get the best performance from the VBRM16 OcuMow™, see our video guide and FAQ.

While the LawnMaster VBRM16 is a simple robot mower, it does come with a couple of essential safety features that make it a great tool for all homes, even those with children. Lift and Tilt Sensors The robot mower will cut in a random pattern for up to 4 hours* which covers lawns up to 100m2. The VBRM16 OcuMow™ is designed to mow once or twice a week during daylight hours in dry weather, cutting and dropping the grass clippings on the lawn as a natural fertiliser. It’s quite an involved process, so be prepared to spend a couple of hours crawling around your garden on your knees. A rear roller is used on a regular lawn mower to weigh down on the grass which in turn creates stripes. However, this is not a feature you see on a robot mower as there simply isn’t enough weight to make stripes. In summary, robotic mowers do not create stripes on your lawn for this reason and the fact that they mow in a random pattern. Can You Mulch With A Robotic Mower? Those looking for neater edges will be better served by the Worx Landroid M500 Plus WR165E. This needs perimeter wire and a base station to be installed but its off-set blade is capable of cutting as close to the edge of the grass as a robot mower can safely be allowed. Its cutting schedule can be controlled by a smartphone app and it can manage a lawn of up to 500m2. There’s no complicated setup, no need to update software and no need to install a boundary wire. All you need to do is charge the battery, insert it and then press the ‘on’ button and choose your mowing mode. There is an auto-mow or a spot cut mode; just press and hold the button to select your mode and the robot will do the rest.

Where most robots are supplied with charging stations, pegs and rolls of boundary wire, the VBRM16’s accessories are minimal. There is a charger for the battery but it’s a standalone device about the size of a tub of margarine, which can be stored anywhere and plugged in as needed. The removable battery is also in the box and needs charging before the mower’s first use. LawnMaster – if you are looking for a robotic mower that is simple to set up and budget friendly, then the LawnMaster L10 may be the mower for you. Supplied with a detachable 4.0Ah MX 24V lithium-ion battery and fast one hour charger, the battery can be charged wherever is convenient with no need for an outdoor power source.
