Unfinished Business is a wonderful addition to the original Star Wars: Outer Rim set. It brings more variety, more characters, and a new layer of intrigue and action to the overall experience.
Unfinished Business Expansion - Fantasy Flight Games
Whilst characters that could only be interacted with are now playable in Unfinished Business, previously playable characters included in the core game can now be encountered within the expansion. The likes of Boba Fett and Han Solo are recruitable characters in Unfinished Business, providing new benefits to a spaceship’s captain. In the new expansion, whenever a bounty is placed on another player’s character the player who revealed that bounty can enter into combat with the targeted player to gain the associated rewards. Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce Star Wars™: Outer Rim, a game of bounty hunters, mercenaries, and smugglers for one to four players! We also plan to rerelease some (but not all) of the game’s cycles in the same fashion as we are for Arkham Horror LCG, with all player cards in a Player Expansion and all other cards in a Campaign Expansion. The base game for Star Wars: Outer Rim already had a plethora of iconic characters in its playable roster, and Unfinished Business rounds them out even further. Where characters like Chewbacca Dengar Hera Syndulla Cad Bane Star Wars: Outer Rim is a board game for one to four players centred around the lives of bounty hunters, mercenaries and smugglers operating in the furthest reaches of the galaxy. As one of these exiles, players will be able to explore the outer rim of the galaxy to take on jobs, hunt down criminals and embark on adventures to earn themselves renown. Encounter Step – The active player resolves a single encounter, usually by drawing an encounter card corresponding to their space. This, of course, just scratches the surface of the new content and new means of player interaction added to Star Wars: Outer Rim with this expansion. These stories will expand the universe of Twilight Imperium in exciting and unexpected ways, and they are written and drawn by some of the biggest names in comics, including Ron Marz ( Silver Surfer, Witchblade), Andy Lanning ( Guardians of the Galaxy, Annihilation), Dan Abnett ( Gaunt’s Ghosts, Horus Heresy), and more. Of course, we’re working closely with the folks at CMON to ensure that everything in these stories will perfectly fit within the Twilight Imperium canon. Can you believe it’s already been five years since Arkham Horror: The Card Game first launched? This game has been going strong all this time and it’s not slowing down anytime soon. We had two big announcements for Arkham LCG in the In-Flight Report, with the first being Machinations Through Time. Titled Unfinished Business, the upcoming expansion for the Star Wars board game was announced in a very - and I mean very - short teaser trailer at the end of Fantasy Flight Games’ In-Flight Report stream during Gen Con Online 2021. But for those looking for something new in this expansion, the ambitions hit the mark. These are great for new players who might not be totally sure what they should do at the start. Each ambition will nudge you in a specific direction of who your character will be. Some will have you focused on bounty hunting, some collecting powerful gear, while others will have you trying to be the best smuggler in the rim. While I enjoyed these, I’m not sure I’d play with them all the time. They were cool in that they gave the end game a climactic feel. However, you are definitely pigeonholed by the kind of character you play during the game. If you drew the Crime Lord ambition, then you won’t be wasting time hauling cargo or hunting bounties. So if you’d prefer to keep the open world feel and make your way as you go, then you’d probably leave the ambitions in the box. The first expansion for Star Wars: Outer Rim will allow players to become new characters such as Chewbacca.
Across the Galaxy
Star Wars: Outer Rim was already a phenomenal board game that provided hours upon hours of exciting adventures for players around the world. Now, with Unfinished Business adding more content and expanding upon what made the base game so great, it seems that the legend of this game will only continue to grow. You can look forward to once again flying through the Outer Rim when Unfinished Business lands in stores this summer! In addition to a brief shout-out to Level Up Dice and their awesome upcoming dice for the game, we also teased a sculpt from an upcoming expansion, Ghosts of Greyhaven. This expansion is a side-story that can be incorporated into your Act I campaign or played as a standalone adventure. Act II is still a ways off, but development is going smoothly, and in the meantime fans of Descent can look forward to Ghosts of Greyhaven to tide them over! A skill test sees you rolling two dice—identical to the dice featured in X-Wing and fully compatible with that game—to determine if your job or encounter is successful. Your odds depend on your character and crew: Lando Calrissian may excel at rigging a game of sabacc, but IG-88 is more likely blast a hole in an organic!

Action Step – Here, the active player may perform any number of actions, including buying cards from a communal marketplace and delivering cargo and bounties. We shined a spotlight on some of these characters during our two livestreams for Unfinished Business. In the gameplay livestream, we showed off what Dengar Hera Syndulla Hondo Ohnaka Chewbacca The long-awaited first expansion for Star Wars: Outer Rim has been revealed by Fantasy Flight Games, two years after the board game first hit shelves.Last up you’ve got the new (Ben) solo cards. Yes, I used that joke twice, I like it though. Each character in the game now has its solo card. This has some unique behaviour that will mean each opponent will act slightly differently. You also get a brand new set of basic AI cards as well. Whereas the cards found in the base game were all about delivering cargo for fame, these new ones are all about bounties. This modifies the behaviour of the AI opponent drastically and gives the solo game a completely different feel to it. The original bounty tokens in the main game were green and yellow and only accessible when you land on planets. Now, Unfinished Business puts the third token in play with an orange token that is only accessible when you land on a planet because it lies on a planet. The original two tokens laid beside the planet, but this one guarantees an encounter of some sort when you land on a planet. It still hides the tokens, in case you’re hunting a bounty, but it makes the token discovery experience far less empty. I only say empty because I didn’t know how good it was until it was included. The more bounties and potential crew, the better. If all the new things to see and goods to grab aren’t enough for you, then you’ll be happy to know that Unfinished Business also gives you lots of new things to do. For starters, a pile of new interactive jobs, such as Honest Robbery Sail Barge Sabotage Rebel Traitor The wonderful part of Unfinished Business is that it brings in even more unknowns to the board game’s original set. You get to choose from more unique characters, which expands the universe quite a bit. There are eight new characters introduced with this expansion. That’s a fair number of new characters in a crowded room of cool characters to choose from. More the merrier.

The expansion also adds some fantastic new features that shake up how Star Wars: Outer Rim is played. With the new favors system, you’ll have even more opportunities to negotiate with your opponents. Play your cards right, and you may put other players in your debt, allowing you to call on them in a moment of need to give yourself a boost. If you and your fellow players want to change up how you win the game, you can utilize ambitions. SCRIPT, because setting up the game is not necessarly the best part I added 2 scripts to help in your task The AI player does not use abilities on cards except for abilities that increase the values of their ship or character—such as a grenade launcher that gives them additional combat value—and they do not complete personal or ship goals. This helps minimize complicated interactions as the AI player blazes their own path throughout the galaxy.Yet since its release in 2019, gamers have been clamoring for an expansion. Finally, 3 years later their wish was granted in the form of Star Wars: Outer Rim – Unfinished Business. Was this expansion worth the wait? Let’s find out! Expansion Overview: Even after you have taken your last action, you are far from safe. The Outer Rim is full of danger and opportunity. At the end of your turn, you'll draw an encounter card based on your location. These encounter cards may provide new cargo or mods, help you make some progress on a job, or even test your skills for the opportunity to gain a huge reward. Star Wars Outer Rim: Unfinished Business Components When you’re not fighting a ground war with your character, you’re fighting a space battle with your ship. The ship battle can be for cargo, bounties, jobs, mods, or simply for survival against a particular organization that you might run into during your space journey. The latter of the bunch involves the four main organizations mentioned previously (Hutts, Empire, Rebels, and the Syndicate), who are always patrolling space looking for those who oppose them. They are represented by tokens, which follow players around their path. If you run into one of the tokens on the board, then you’re in a space battle that correlates to a specific numbered card and a reward that is generally significant. That shouldn’t mean you’re looking for trouble, as those organizations certainly bring the pain at times.
