If you have penylketonuria, note that this product is sweetened with asparatame (E951), a source of phenylalanine. Other Ingredients: Mannitol, Calcium carbonate, Macrogol 20,000, Magnesium stearate, Aspartame, Mint flavour no. An off-white to cream, circular, flat with bevelled edges tablet with the odour and flavour of peppermint. Sometimes, if Gaviscon does not work or agree with you, your doctor or pharmacist may suggest another reflux suppressant. Gaviscon contains alginic acid and sodium bicarbonate and the combination of the alginic acid and bicarbonate will create a a foam barrier which floats on the stomach acid.This medicinal product is contraindicated in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients listed in section 6. When chewed (Gaviscon Tablets) or swallowed (Gaviscon Liquid), the combination of the alginic acid and bicarbonate creates a foam barrier or "raft" that floats on the stomach acid. Gaviscon Advance creates a protective barrier to stop acid from refluxing up the oesophagus (food pipe). It is not a replacement for and should only be used in conjunction with full consultation with a licensed healthcare professional, the information provided by your pharmacist and the manufacturer of the medication.

It may be better to avoid taking Gaviscon a few hours before and after taking Ellaone, or use a different emergency contraceptive instead.
