About this deal

Always remember to practice proper safety when working with shock, as high concentration chlorine can bleach you or the tub if you’re not careful.

This will kill the contaminants your bromine has encountered, and convert it back to 'free bromine' so it can be effective again. Systems such as the HotSpring Freshwater Salt System use salt water to generate chlorine and active oxygen, which in turn kills bacteria. As a guide - a hot tub of 1,000 litres requires 18g to raise Total Alkalinity levels by 10ppm (parts per million). Unclean bodies of water, especially high temperature ones like a spa, are breeding grounds for bacteria, which can make bathers sick. Chlorine tablets (Trichlor) are acidic which means PH and Alkalinity will reduce when using this product. The following diagnostic messages may appear on your touch pad if your filters are dirty; FLO, Heater Dry, LF, DR, OHH, or -- (two lines).

If you are unsure of the correct amount, you can add chlorine little by little until you reach perfection.

All dosage and application recommendations below are based on ClearWater® hot tub chemicals and you should always refer to the instructions and warnings included with each product before using. This is to reduce residue from products such as shampoo, deodorant, washing detergent, sun lotion, moisturiser, make-up, fake tan and natural body oils which can cause chemical imbalances. Clearwater pH Minus , also known as ‘pH reducer’ is the most simple and effective way to decrease the pH of your spa water when it has surpassed the recommended level. You twist the bottom to try to limit how much water can get inside, but it's not the most accurate mechanism in my experience.

The Freeze Shield™ is a built-in feature to the pump, and is activated so long as there is a power supply to the unit. I've been using bromine in my own hot tub for years and have picked up some tips, tricks, and expert knowledge along the way. As long as you have set it up correctly, given it a shock dose then balanced Total Alkalinity, pH and Free Chlorine; a heated, covered hot tub will be fine for a few days up to a whole week, or even longer, without needing any attention. Therefore we recommend that you test your sanitiser and PH level as often as possible and adjust accordingly, but you may wish to reduce these checks to every few days if you find your water doesn’t need adjusting that often. The benefit of this is that there is chlorine being dispensed constantly, however it does give less control than using granules. Even if you’re handling the same type of chemical, mixing a new batch of a chemical with a leftover batch of the same chemical can lead to a reaction from the older residue, or create fumes. As a result, it’s recommended that you give a shock treatment to the water once a week during periods of heavy use. In addition, avoid stacking liquid chemicals above powdered ones due to the risk of a hazardous reaction.
