This book is dedicated to every reader who contacted me asking when Oswald’s story would be out, and to every reviewer who said they could not wait for his book.

Just wanna freak out about Alice Coldbreath : r/RomanceBooks

He turned in his chair to watch suspiciously as Linnet shook her head and held up baby Archie for his father to kiss. I’m definitely a fan of this series and I’m hoping so very much that I’m going to love Roland’s story as much as I have these first two. Separated by unknown acts, but most certainly a battle where the H was wounded so badly he almost didn’t survive and he lost some of his memories. She whimpered when his kiss turned open-mouthed and carnal, her fingers, tightening again on his arms, but she did not try to pull away. I loved how that dumb bulb cheater king Wymer tried to figure out the implications of the play while his clever queen Armenal figured it out straight away.My original review said that I didn't like the end of the book, and that the characters frustrated me. He never had any malice behind it and I loved watching him slowly adapt to behave better after Fenella came back into his life. Aimee Ankatel, youngest daughter to the richest merchant in all Karadok only has eyes for the heavily scarred Lord Kentigern. The last of her ill-fated line, she is just grateful she emerged from the dark days of war with her head still on her shoulders. Often times these types of characters can get a little annoying with their doormat behaviour but it worked with her.

I really enjoyed reading about Oswald's grudging fascination with his wife as she tries to find her way amidst castle politics and intrigue. The chemistry between this couple was sizzling and while it’s obvious this was an insta story, it was not at all over the top.

This is a work of fiction and any names, characters, events or organisations are either a product of my imagination or used fictitiously. All of the details (for example how Mathilde ran away could have come up in Mathilde’s book and that was enough. For some reason, she could not raise her eyes to his face, but she was content to let him lead her away from the bridge, toward an oak tree that stood on a hill. Mason said you are Wymer's most trusted adviser these days, and certainly everyone agrees, the most competent.

Like book 1, book 2 could have used some editing, but the story is such a good one and the narration was exceptional so it's forgivable. With a muttered curse, he reached down and grabbed the back of her knees, spreading her soft plump thighs even wider so he could sink deeper still. But Lord Vawdrey is not the charming boy she remembers, and he has no interest in halting her divorce. I'm really not a fan of the 3rd brother but this author has proven that she is worth the read so I will be diving into it very soon. The third act didn’t really hit the spot for me (I would have preferred more angst, or maybe to skip the third act conflict completely because the audiobook felt a little long), but overall I highly enjoyed this book but that’s no surprise - I don’t think I’ve read an Alice Coldbreath book I didn’t like.Linnet looked skeptical, but was distracted by Archie letting out a yell at being ignored for so long.

She wrote him poems, made detailed tapestries she gifted to him, and then he disappeared after a horrific battle when he was only 21. I don’t understand why he became obsessed with her ( not that it’s some kind of great honour — he still treated her like a pet). She looked nervous, but repeated “I want you to find release in me,” with a slight lift of her chin.It was so much fun watching Oswald yield to love and devotion when that was the very last thing he had wanted. When Fenella gets word that her husband is planning to divorce her, she goes to ask Oswald (the King’s top advisor, and also the man who jilted her when she was 15) intercede on her behalf… turns out it’s super convenient for Oswald that she’s brought along their old betrothal papers as blackmail. After all, what was the point in being churlish over the fact he and his father had never seen eye-to-eye? Maybe, a voice whispered in her head, just maybe Orla thought she could rule the roost with a younger mistress at Thurrold.
