Description

Mina is a down-to-earth and relatable woman who comes face to face with an unthinkable horror when her daughter’s life is threatened. The only problem is that when confronted by the most life-changing choice of their lives, one that involves the future of their ailing son, the two fail to reach an agreement. So when her freelance writing ambition, which she opined she could discard anytime if the pilot project flopped, proved viable a year into her break, she quit the police.

The best thing that I can say about this book is that it isn't the worst book I've read this year, but it is certainly in the running. It’s an ambitious premise for a thriller, but it was the one element of the book that I wasn’t sure quite delivered the impact I had hoped for. There is an emotion decision that has to be made, weighing up options as to what she should do and being judged for it and herself feeling guilty for it. It felt like watching a blockbuster movie; edge of seat, nail biting, propulsive, compulsive, thrilling and just so beautifully done. After thinking about it and googling (yep, I’m that person), I decided it wasn’t outside the realm of possibility.Part One introduces you to the crew and it’s passengers, allowing you to guess at WHO will be a hi-jacker, WHO will be a Victim, and WHO might become a hero or heroine. Flight attendant Mina is trying to focus on the passengers, instead of her troubled five-year-old daughter back at home – or the cataclysmic problems in her marriage. Pick this book up if you’re in the market for high-stakes thrills—just consider reading this one with both feet planted firmly on the ground.

and on the ground, where Mina’s husband, Adam, and their daughter, Sophia, have their own dangerous situation escalating. Her study was propitious and thus she quit the police force, bring a twelve-year-long career to an end. We were in by seven and home 13 hours later, our days filled with beeps and whirs, and the stillness of a ward where lives hung in the balance.
