Alice(An Aardvark With Autism) is incredibly good with numbers, but she doesn’t like loud noise, and is anxious about being in noisy situations.

There are some mean girls and a new group of friends that christen their group with the name Hibbleflitts. Alice finds it difficult to explain how she is feeling, but Alice’s mum and Alice’s school friends come up with a solution, enabling Alice to enjoy a birthday party with her friend Dylan after all.

As nightfall approaches she spots a cabin in a clearing, the woman in the doorway screams at Mina to run as she rushes inside and the door slams behind her, the building is battered by terrifying shrieks.

Sharing these books with any child who is struggling to fit in can help them realise they are not alone. Priya (A Panda With Dyspraxia) is a lovely character who finds physical skills more challenging than her peers. Highly recommended with no content reservations for all students in grades 4-6, but especially for those who enjoyed Palacio's Wonder, Vrabel's Pack of Dorks series, and sad-happy heart warmers by O'Connor, Bauer, Lord and Graff. Eight and a half year old Ruth Brooks had left her old school in Harlem and was about to start school on a scholarship at Dalton in New York’s Upper East Side. Okay, so this review may sound more like a fangirl's post than a critique's but I can NOT critique Jodi Picoult's work, all I can do is fangirl about it!She must learn to navigate between the two worlds and hope like the stars, no matter where you stand you will be under the same light. She does not want to be in Harlem as she does not fit in, as a light milky cream color and wants a better education. Survival horror novels work best with strong characterisation and the four main protagonists (three women and one man) play off each other beautifully, each dealing with varying degrees of trauma and loneliness. This is a wonderful book, set in a private middle school, that definitely has a message (be true to yourself, and character and kindness are more important than blind ambition and achievement) but successfully avoids didacticism. So Rosa must live a Rapunzel sort of life, hidden away in an isolated house with its back to the rest of the world, with only the internet for a social life.

Ruth must navigate between two worlds, never losing sight of the dreams she has for herself—in hopes that someday, someone will see her for who she really is. However, the true character of a person, and what always makes them stand out, IMO, is not the number of badges, awards, gold stars, or dollars they have. After Piper’s dad gets a job at a preparatory school, Piper learns that she will be attending the school with all the “rich kids” that she doesn’t connect with. Make no mistake, very early on in The Watchers the reader realises they are very real and the manner in which they were presented is highly unsettling and slightly reminiscent of Josh Malerman’s Birdbox.Die Kurzbeschreibung liest sich interessant und gleichzeitig erschütternd, sodass diese direkt mein Interesse wecken konnte und ich gerne mehr über Ruth erfahren wollte. She learns to enjoy his company, because after all, he is her father, and he will always be there for her. When a contest centered around excellence is announced at her school, Piper wants to compete so she can have a plaque in the display case (next to her mom’s).
