Her willingness to be vulnerable and grapple openly with issues of feminism, marriage, law, ethics, and mothering makes this book a thought-provoking, brave, witty and refreshing read. I wonder why we're so quick to love others, why we forget to give some of that love to ourselves, especially when we are the ones who need it the most.

Stuck in between life and death, she travels back and forth in time witnessing some of the worst moments from her past.

As she struggles to determine what level of holiness is required for the committed, romantic love she craves, it is Maura's inherit desire to care for those in need that may end up leading her away from what, and who, she always thought would make her happy.
