Description

Each crock was branded with the Tanqueray name and the family symbol, a pineapple, and a pair of battleaxes. The perfect balance of four botanicals gives a delightfully refreshing taste especially when combined with tonic and zesty lime. These highly acidic fruits, actually orange in colour, impart a fresh, zesty zing to this refreshing gin.

Meanwhile Charles’ brother Edward married Susan, the granddaughter of Alexander Gordon, another noted London distiller whose name might be familiar. This is a single plastic bauble containing a wax-sealed 30ml sample dram of Tanqueray Export Strength - a world-famous London dry gin that's perfect for all manner of cocktails. Officially re-launched in the beginning of 2013, Tanqueray's limited edition Malacca is a sweet, spicy gin with increased levels of citrus. You should also note that the picture images show only our serving suggestions of how to prepare your food - all table accessories and additional items and/or ingredients pictured with the product you are purchasing are not included. It has a distinctly juniper forward aroma that delivers in flavour and also has a lovely peppery lemony-ness.Ten is named after the still of its origin, pot still number 10, which is quite endearingly nicknamed Tiny Ten.

Enjoy the unmistakable taste of Tanqueray London Dry Gin mixed with a premium tonic water, plenty of ice and garnished with a wedge of fresh lime. Disaster struck, however, on 10 May 1941 when much of the Goswell Road distillery was destroyed by German bombers, but the Old Tom still survived and it is still (no pun intended) in use to this day.The pineapple fruit was the ultimate symbol of hospitality in 1830s England and features in the Tanqueray family crest which adorns every bottle from the Tanqueray Distilling Company. Presented in a classic green bottle that looks like it stepped straight out of the roaring ‘20s, this citrus-forward gin is perfect for classic cocktails. This was at a time when most gin was delivered in giant wooden casks to pubs and other establishments where it was often adulterated. Then in 1995, all production moved up to Cameron Bridge in Scotland where both Tanqueray and Gordon’s are made to this day. Based on a recipe made by Charles Tanqueray himself, this expression introduces lovage into the mix alongside juniper, angelica, liquorice and coriander.

Ten, as well as everything you need to mix up a Martini, including a coupe glass, mixing glass, jigger, and strainer. This is not dissimilar to some of the old-fashioned styles of Old Tom gin, and it works very well as a substitute in cocktails. Much, much better than the likes of Gordons and Bombay Sapphire and if you are new to gin worth comparing as a herby/spicy forward with the likes of beefeater (floral forward) and plymouth (citrus forward) to benchmark. True to say this gin is nothing amazing but, it has a very nice balanced, sweet side flavour to it, the strength provides some push, and it's trump card I've found is that I've mixed it with all manor of tonic flavours and fruits and it always delivers something different {see 'A good cocktail bar staple' review}. Tanquray used to be 46% ABV, then Gordons watered it down to 43%, now seemingly 41 1/2%, no longer an “Export” Gin in my view, nor so suitable for very dry Martini. The secret of this spirit lies in the zesty bittersweet taste of Seville oranges balanced with the complexity of a Tanqueray London Dry Gin. Nowadays Tanqueray offers a full range of gins including the popular Flor de Sevilla orange gin, a zero ABV offering, and Malacca that harks back to one of Charles Tanqueray’s original recipes from 1830. It is best enjoyed in a copa glass mixed with premium tonic water, plenty of ice and a squeeze of lime for a classic Tanqueray gin and tonic.
