I'm so thrilled to be releasing our soundtrack for this newest chapter in the story of THE LAST OF US” adds composer David Fleming. Tiny nitpick: I wish the poster and insert were handled with better care, those creases are starting to be a new pet peeve. Of the soundtrack, composer Gustavo Santaolalla says, “Creating the music for the HBO series based on the video game THE LAST OF US was, in a way, an expansion of what we have developed and recorded for the first installment of the game. The vinyl version of The Last of Us soundtrack, entitled The Last of Us 4XLP OST, was announced on the Mondo Twitter feed, as a release exclusive to them.

Wonderful themes, imaginative instrumentation, great memories of playing the game through 10 years ago now. This 4 LP Box set, housed in a heavy duty slip case, contains every audio cue from the massive hit game including cues from the 2014's DLC "Left Behind. Nonetheless, it's a great display piece for dedicated fans, even if they don't have the record player to listen to it. But the quality of the pressing is poor, there are cracks (I knew it was going to be of poor quality) it’s a real shame! The hype sticker on my copy has the same information as the gold one, but it’s silver and has the ‘at the movies’ logo on top with a smaller ‘music on vinyl’ logo underneath it. This pressing, the whole presentation, the whole package makes this reissue an a absolutely gorgeous tribute to one of the most beautiful brilliantly executed soundtracks I have ever heard! Santaolalla is also known for his work on Brokeback Mountain and Babel, for which he both won the Academy Award for Best Original Score. Featuring all five acoustic covers from the game's pre-release marketing, or the game itself, this stunning collection of acoustic songs is an essential companion to the original soundtrack album, performed by Ashley Johnson (Ellie), Troy Baker (Joel), and guitarist Chris Rondinella. In the original, the plucky guitar performance by Gustavo Santaolalla almost singlehandedly took the post-apocalyptic horror narrative of the game and grounded it firmly in the western genre. Once again, the emotion at the heart of the score this time driven by the vision of Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin and by the power of this amazing story. Game soundtracks are generally made available for sale in digital, downloadable formats as well as on CD, so fans can re-experience the music that made the most action-packed and dramatic sequences in games even more intense. The game is played in a third-person perspective and its player controls Joel, a smuggler who is escorting the teenager Ellie across a post-apocalyptic America. No surface noise (I had a couple of pops and cracks, but after a good cleaning they disappeared),warm, you can almost feel and taste all the colours and textures of the game while LISTENING.

Fans who are awaiting more information on the film version of The Last of Us, as well as the rumored The Last of Us sequel, won't find much consolation in this record.Included on over 240 Game Of The Year lists, Naughty Dog's survival horror masterpiece features a soundtrack that rivals some of greatest film scores of the last ten years.
