Description

It is important that the children become fluent at identifying and saying the letter sounds which will build their confidence as they progress and develop their reading skills. The sound of each letter has been pre-recorded on the Master track and the children should be encouraged to try to say the sound before playing the card through the Language Master. As the children grow in confidence and experience, they are introduced to alternative ways of representing the same sound, eg 'ee' can be represented as 'ee as in bee', 'ea as in tea', 'e-e as in theme' and 'e as in we'. This Floppy’s Phonics Fiction complete pack offers 30 books that support the teaching of Phase 2 to Phase 5 Letters and Sounds (2007).

These phonemes include those made by just one letter 'b as in bed' and those that are made by two 'ai as in rain or three letters 'igh as in high'. Offering plenty of opportunities for discussion, these 12 titles are an ideal resource to help lay the foundations of learning to read and to inject a love of reading for pleasure. This handbook is a guide to Floppy’s Phonics – a rigorous, easy-to-use synthetic phonics teaching programme that engages children from the outset and enables them to learn to read quickly. There are 6 books at Level 3: Book 13 practises 'ai ee igh' Book 14 practises 'oa oo oo' Book 15 practises 'ar or ur' Book 16 practises 'ow oi ear' Book 17 practises 'air er er' Book 18 practises 'ue ue ure' Each sound is explored through an Oxford Reading Tree scene, first the children should say the sound and trace the letters in the panel, before looking at the key word and picture and saying the sound, there is a list of decodable words for them to read and then they can try to find all words they can that include the focus sound within the picture, some are labelled some are not! Engaging decodable Biff, Chip and Kipper stories 100% matched to Letters and Sounds enable your pupils to practise phonic skills with their favourite characters. If you have any questions or queries regarding the phonics screening check, please contact your child’s pastoral class teacher in the first instance who will endeavour to answer your query as quickly as possible. The national phonics screening check is a short, statutory assessment to ensure that children are making sufficient progress in phonics skills to read words and are on track to become fluent readers, who can enjoy reading for pleasure. We aim to develop each child so that they are able to read fluently and confidently as well as enriching their vocabulary and developing a love of reading. Like no other, it delivers the essential resources to teach and practise the alphabetic code in a systematic and engaging way to develop confident and capable readers. The Level 1 Sounds and Letters books introduce children to environmental sounds in a variety of contexts through beautifully illustrated Oxford Reading Tree picture books.

Each card is clearly referenced with the book and card number, the letter and a mnemonic full colour picture. Strategies will be modelled by teaching staff and opportunities provided for children to practise these skills independently to secure their knowledge. Our simple philosophy is to select engaging, imaginative and informative books that will inspire curious young minds and engender a lifelong love of reading. The official pass mark has not been released for the 2022 check yet; however, in 2021, this was 32 out of 40.

Developed with Debbie Hepplewhite, it's perfect for schools who want high quality resources for effective and consistent phonics teaching.
