There's nothing terribly complicated about the Fratellis' debut album, Costello Music , but that's by no means a criticism.

Music Week's Stuart Clarke said, "A month after the scout discovered them, labels were flying up to Scotland to see them.

But all this analysis kind of misses the point of Costello Music : this is music for dancing, not for contemplation. But the Fratellis are a decent singles band working overtime here-- though no song breaks the four-minute mark, there's still 13 of them to wade through, and most are beholden to a predictable pattern of hop-along verse and overexcited amped-up chorus, while the attempts to toughen up their eager-to-please power-pop with bluesy prowls ("Doginabag") and hoarse-throat punky aggression ("Got Ma Nuts From a Hippy") are far less engaging. Following the release of the album, the Fratellis embarked on a tour of the UK festival circuit, headlining at popular festivals such as NME's Rock ‘n’ Riot tour and T in the Park 2007, amongst others. The band was eventually signed to Island Records and the album was released under its UK subsidiary, Fallout Records.Having greatly enjoyed the three singles so far, I must admit to approaching with some trepidation - but am happy to report that these three are by no means the only great tracks here, and not even the best. Costello Music includes the hit singles Chelsea Dagger and Henrietta, as well as tracks form their limited edition eponymous EP, with tracks like the live favourite Creepin' up the Backstairs. The other singles with the exception of "Flathead" only managed to chart in the UK, where they were moderately popular. Yes I know they are 'Indie' but these boys style origins come more from the gods of guitar wielding stompin rockin 70's glam rockers than the likes of Coldplay.

No, it's okay though, what I did like was the cover art, and I just may get another different album in the future. Glaswegian indie sensations the Fratellis finally release their anticipated debut album, Costello Music. It was released on 11 September 2006 on Fallout Records and Drop the Gun Recordings and on 13 March 2007 on Cherrytree Records in the U. Every track is great and they fit well together so you never find yourself wishing you had a skip button. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. And, in the pantheon of iPod pitchmen bands, will the Fratellis be the next Jet or just the next Caesars?
