War Dog Executioner: Corrupted Heirlooms, Diabolus heavy stubber, Helm of Dogs, Tzeentch – Mirror of Fates

mowed down by their chattering point-defence Heavy Stubbers. After all, none can be permitted to survive the Chaos Knights' wrath; only death can remain in their wake. It’s pretty clear some kind of balance pass was necessary after the first round of events and so it’s good to see Games Workshop taking this much-needed step. Whether it’s enough is going to be an interesting question, but we’re mostly of the mind that 10th is a pretty fun edition when you move away from some of the listbuilding extremes we’ve seen early on and anything that takes us closer to that environment is a plus. The presence of an Abhorrent-class Knight is enough to spur on the various War Dogs that cluster around them. These auras are more flexible than the targeted bonuses used by Imperial Knights – but the new Bondsman abilities benefit both the Armiger target and the Questoris Knight using them, while a Chaos Knight is unaffected by its own aura. This fundamentally changes the dynamic between lord and squire, as the larger Chaos Knights have little concern for the benefit a War Dog can give them, instead of working in careful concert. This Knight is a great accompaniment to shooting- or psychic-based Chaos armies, like the Thousand Sons or Alpha Legion. OPTION 2: The Tower of Terror Since the Chaos Knights book dropped, a completely revised set of Forge World Knight rules has been published. You can find our hot-take review of them here.A Fitting Challenge has you taking out specific targets chosen pre-game, with points for removing them from the table early and often. Because those targets have to be the ones with the highest points value, the value of this secondary is going to depend heavily on what those units are and, fittingly from a lore standpoint, this is going to be most valuable when going up against other knight armies or armies relying on big vehicles and monsters that can’t be protected easily. It’s a pretty average secondary on the whole – it’ll usually be worth 7-8 points – but not something you’re going to want to take very often.

points might seem like a lot to dedicate to an “allied” choice, but this Detachment has a place in pretty much any Chaos force. Between the War Dog autocannons and the Knight Desecrator’s laser destructor, you’ll have some flexible firepower.Path of Destruction scores you VP at the end of the round (up to 3) for destroying enemy units with chaos knights units that are in your deployment zone, in no man’s land, and in their deployment zone. Again, this one is going to depend heavily on the terrain and the opponent (and the deployment zones), and the hoops you have to jump through make it just not worth it – killing an enemy unit with one of your own in your opponent’s deployment zone every round to score 15 is pretty much impossible unless you get off a wild T1 charge with something like a subjugator machine spirit, and the per-round scoring on this makes it just a really bad option. You’re better off going with Grind Them Down. As the big boy knight, the Tyrant is down 10 pts, now has a 2+ save, and got a -2″ movement as a counterbalance. Another big change was the NERF to Titanic feet, making this model really need to rely on the ranged power more than before. Melee can now punish knights harder in general. Tzeentchian Pyrothrone: Your Knight is a psyker that can Smite and Deny. Generally if your opponent has good psykers you want this out somewhere. You also always explode if you die from a perils, which is hilarious, especially as it doesn’t say the standard MWs from a perils explosion don’t go off too. But you’re here to learn how to magnetize the dude, not talk about how he’s thrown on a sprue. So here’s what you need to do to future-proof this bad boy. Chaos Knights Desecrator Instructions

These knights can’t gain enhancements or be your army Warlord, but this does allow your Chaos Space Marines, World Eaters, or even Chaos Daemons to enjoy some super-heavy walker support. Let’s start with an easy one – sometimes, you just need an enemy smashed. Whether it’s a rival Knight , Roboute Guilliman himself, or large units with good saves (invulnerable or otherwise) like Bullgryns . Nothing too complicated here, pretty much just a ~15% hike to anything with Towering and a gun, and slightly more on Canis Rex. That’s certainly going to force some decisions on Knight players – early play has seen a lot of three big Knight lists, but it seems pretty likely that two will now be the norm, and it’ll be interesting to see which ones. Mythic Hero presumably ends up as pretty much an auto-take with fewer Bondsman abilities to hand out, and at the other end of the spectrum it does seem plausible that just going in on one of the bigger threats like a Castellan gets more attractive now that each big Knight is a greater proportion of your army.I will note that they only give you the instructions for the Abominant in this box despite giving you all the bits for the other two, but I am sure you can find the instructions for the other builds online if you so desire.
