Much like their collaboration on that other sequel, this film crackles with crisp hard-hitting action, great performances, and a heighten stylistic stunt work that’s unmatched.

So, whilst I do think it’s the weakest of the four first In the Line of Duty films, I do think this third part is still very strong. Death-defying stunts, insane action set-pieces, and some of the best martial-arts choreography ever captured on film – In the Line of Duty IV is an unhinged Hong Kong action masterpiece and Eureka Classics is proud to present it in its UK debut on Blu-ray. The Audio Commentary by Frank Djeng on the HK Version continues the critic’s great deep dive into the world of In the Line of Duty.I’ve always had a love/hate view of Chan because of his personal views and whatnot, but he’s not the same as Logan. Khan is paired with screen legend Hiroshi Fujioka (of Kamen Rider fame) as the man after revenge when the Thieves kill his partner in cold blood.

III definitely cranks up the violence a notch, with plenty of squibs and even some gore here and there. Well, it's pretty much the one area where the only time anyone comments is to say something negative. Early on the film really plays on the comedy side of things, especially with Yeung trying to make a difference as a police woman, but coming up against the daft bureaucracy of the department, and an uncle who wants to keep her away from all of the action. There were one or two moments I thought lagged, largely ones seeing Yen and Khan bickering about their approaches to policing, but these are only brief. The film is the introduction of Cynthia Khan not only as the new lead protagonist, following Michelle Yeoh, but her debut as an actress.Ng would be found going it alone and avenging her friend’s death along with finding said microfilm, though she’s partnered up with Scotland Yard’s best of the best Carrie Morris (Rothrock).
