The job of a good dog was ultimately to be with them, remaining by their sides no matter what course their lives might take. All I could do now was offer him comfort, the assurance that as he left this life he was not alone but rather was tended by the dog who loved him more than anything in the whole world.” I have to say, as much as I love this author, as much as I love the movies that get made from his books (A Dog's Journey, which is A Dog's Purpose #2 is easily the best of the three movies) I had some trepidation. I thought to myself, will I be tired of hearing the ongoing adventures of Bailey, Bailey, Bailey which I thought had come to a happy ending at the end of book and movie #2 in the A Dog's Purpose series? That’s what it was called. When I found out that I was doing the sequel, everyone was like, ‘The dog movie?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, dog movie 2!’ But there’s a lot of pressure because it did so well there. I think it’s because of the culture. The themes in this movie — it talks about forgiveness, family, love — I think those are very powerful things, especially in China. Those are themes that every Chinese person can relate with.” All the Ways the Dog Dies Josh Gad is Reincarnated Over and Over in the A Dog's Purpose Trailer". 2016-08-26 . Retrieved 2016-08-26. If you saw A Dog’s Purpose two years ago, then you already have a pretty good idea of what you’re getting into with the movie’s new sequel: the corny dialogue, the contrived plot, the butt-clenching sense of dread …Kit, Borys (5 August 2015). I’ve always loved dogs, which puts me in a unique category along with what, maybe two or three billion people? I’ll try and quit while I’m (hopefully) ahead here with the metaphors, it’s 3 am for me and if I stay awake one minute longer, I’m going to pass out and slump over face-first into my computer screen, smearing tear-stains of happily liquified mascara literally everywhere. As a dog owner (I have a 10-month-old Goldendoodle named Fritz, short for Fritzgerald, yes the extra 'r' is intentional) and lover, I enjoyed this book and found it somewhat heartwarming. As a book lover I recognize this book as cute but insubstantial and ultimately more cloying than inspirational. It's easy-to-read fluff that fulfilled its purpose as something to listen to on a road trip to Southern Utah and appease my wife. A Dog's Purpose is a 2017 American family comedy-drama adventure film directed by Lasse Hallström and written by W. Bruce Cameron, Cathryn Michon, Audrey Wells, Maya Forbes, and Wally Wolodarsky, based on the 2010 novel of the same name by W. Bruce Cameron. The film stars Britt Robertson, KJ Apa, Juliet Rylance, John Ortiz, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Peggy Lipton, Dennis Quaid, and Josh Gad. It covers themes of loyalty, grief, dysfunctional family, over a series of reincarnations.I thought this was a cute book (told from the dog's POV) about one dog's search for purpose in life. Although in this book the dog wan't just one dog he was Toby,Bailey, Ellie, and Buddy. He was born, he lived, he died to be reborn again. In each of his lives he searches for his purpose. First, it seems to me the author is losing his hair. He keeps combing it to try to hide this incipient baldness, but I’m not buying it. Maybe it's more of a young adult book. Something for the pre-teen daughters. I like my sentences compound and when I can breeze through a novel in less than two hours, so.... PERSONAL NOTE: So I say to myself. Buddy, it’s been a year. Maybe let them know you are still alive? So. Here I am. Alive. Didn’t get covid. Yet. Reading poorly. Gaming plenty. Working. Single. No kids. Got vaccinated recently.

In the 1950s, a feral puppy wonders about life's true purpose. Weeks later, he is caught by dogcatchers, whisked away to the pound, and euthanized. The third dog, a droopy mastiff named Big Dog, wanders into a patch of forest to die of old age out of the sight of his owner, Joe. NOTA PERSONAL: Entonces me digo a mí mismo. Pibe, ya pasó un año. Tal vez podrías avisarles que todavía seguís vivo? Así que acá estoy. Vivo. No tuve covid. Todavía. Leyendo poco. Jugando mucho. Trabajando. Soltero. Sin hijos. Me vacunaron recientemente. Plus, he’s never been particularly attractive, but since he went on this big “diet” he talks incessantly about, he’s been opening the refrigerator and stuffing cheese in his mouth. He’s gained about ten very unsightly pounds.UPDATE TO MY REVIEW BELOW! I JUST FOUND OUT ON FACEBOOK THAT THIS BOOK IS NOMINATED FOR THE GOODREADS CHOICE AWARD OF 2010!!!! I hope all the people here who have loved it as much as I did will vote and it wins! Humans were capable of so many amazing things, but too often they just sat making words, not doing anything. Because we are headed into a season where gift-giving is common, this would be a great way to take care of some of the people on your list. And, of course, take care of yourself—do you want a signed, personalized, first edition of A Dog’s Promise? On this journey, the dogs – along with sharply drawn human characters – find a promised purpose in a story of love, duty and redemption. And there’s lots of humor, often in short, delightful bursts.

As usual, Cameron pushes his story along from the mind and watchful eyes of the novel’s beloved canine hero(es). The dogs are completely dedicated to their humans – and to getting as many treats as possible, of course. Devotion is, in fact, at the heart of this heartwarming novel. Cameron’s uncanny ability to write from the viewpoint of a dog remains intact. Being a good dog is still the ultimate goal. And bacon is still king.

I had hoped that Cameron’s second book in the series, “A Dog’s Journey” wasn’t the end of the saga. After all, one thing I’ve learned to believe is that the end isn’t truly the end. So, I was excited to learn that “A Dog’s Promise” was in the works and even more excited that I received an Advanced Reader’s copy from the publisher.
