Samsung Odyssey G7 32-inch 1000R Curved Monitor Review: Extreme in Every Way : Read moreHello Christian Eberle, and thanks for doing a review of this interesting monitor model from Samsung! :)

If you want a high refresh rate for buttery-smooth graphics or to give you an edge in competitive titles like Apex Legends and Call Of Duty: Warzone then you're usually limited to a 1080p resolution. On the flip side, anyone wanting to enjoy crazy 4K graphics on games like Red Dead Redemption 2 will have to reel in that refresh rate to something around the 60Hz mark, There is a good argument that anything over 144Hz is excessive given how little different you'll see in the jump between 144-240Hz, but with the latest graphics cards from Nvidia and AMD powering gaming PCs you can expect many low-demand titles easily smashing past 144fps. Whether you'd actually notice the difference is an open question, but you'll have the peace of mind knowing that if you're hitting up to 240fps in your favorite game then your monitor is keeping up. The Samsung G70A and G50A Odyssey gaming monitors also include an array of intuitive multitasking features to get the most out of every interaction whether gaming, enjoying creating content. Each monitor features multiple screen management tools for multitasking. Users can effortlessly game, watch and chat all at the same time with Picture-by-Picture (PBP) or create a virtual second screen with Picture-in-Picture (PIP) with flexible customisation. With Easy Setting Box, players can conveniently manage multiple screens on one monitor with fully optimised window allocations for better multitasking, so players no longer have to choose between watching their favorite streamer or playing their game. If we compare the build qualities of Samsung G5 32 vs G7 32 monitors, you’ll find that the Samsung G5 is quite well built. Despite being made entirely of plastic, it appears to be relatively durable. But when a G5 monitor is VESA-mounted, it tilts downward because the mounting holes for the VESA standard are out of alignment with the display’s center of gravity.

If you focus on the stands of both monitors, you’ll see that in the case of the G5 monitor, the frame has wide-spaced but relatively narrow feet, giving you a lot of useful desk space. Unfortunately, it’s a pretty simple stand that’s constructed of flimsy plastic and wobbles a lot. You're also getting adaptive sync support and compatibility for both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync for a tear-free gaming experience and a funky LED light built into the rear of the monitor to illuminate the wall with some mood lighting, though this sadly isn't RGB, nor will it sync to your other peripherals or react to what's on your display like a Philips Hue device. Determining what is most important when choosing a monitor depends on which color space (CMYK, sRGB, DCI-P3, or Adobe RGB) you usually use. We recommend choosing a monitor with a wide range of colors. The higher the percentage, the better the experience. The DCI-P3 color space is the most popular and has the widest range of colors.

Turn your g-sync on, read the blurbusters article if necessary on it. If you are gonna spend the money on a nice monitor, use it to the full extent. On the other hand, the V-shaped stand of the Samsung Odyssey Gaming G7 allows you to still set anything in front of it. It has a sizable footprint, and the frame generally does an excellent job of supporting the display. – ErgonomicsSince the tilting hinge also causes a downward tilt of the screen to the minimum angle, it doesn’t seem sturdy enough to support the display. Although it is simple to install, the stand has a cheap feeling and is challenging to take apart. The displays of both the Samsung G5 and G7 are nothing to scoff at either. Both G5 and G7 monitors come with a VA panel with a 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution. Variable refresh rate is also supported by both types of monitors, and they’re also compatible with the HDR10 color format. Price? I don't know, that is obviously relative. Gaming and technology are my main hobbies, I will happily spend money on them. Versatile new options provide players around the globe with incredible picture quality and superior design There are reports of issues when displaying a specific pattern at 1080p. We can replicate it, but we're not sure what the cause is.

HDR is supposedly not bright enough for some people? I didn't have that issue but most of my games are not HDR, so this was a non-issue for me. RAPID 240hz REFRESH RATE: Topping leaderboards never looked or felt so smooth. With Odyssey’s rapid 240hz refresh rate, you have up to four times as many frames displayed on screen every second compared to a traditional screen. UNMATCHED IMMERSION: Get your head in the game with Odyssey’s 1000R panel, which matches the curvature of the human eye for maximum immersion and minimal eye strain. Set with Stand (inches)-27.96 x 23.41 x 12.04 The Samsung Odyssey G7 is best for gaming purposes. It supports FreeSync and NVIDIA’s G-SYNC and has a native refresh rate of 240 Hz. The response time is exceptional at 60Hz and, along with its maximum refresh rate, results in very little blur. Now let’s compare the motion sensing capabilities of the Samsung G5 vs G7 monitors. The G5 monitors have a max refresh rate of 144Hz, and this refresh rate remains consistent over both DP and HDMI.

We’ve always been fans of the 32-inch, 16:9 format. The C32G75T is just like that, only curved. You’d think a 1000mm radius would be extreme, and it is, but it doesn’t call as much attention to itself as the photos suggest. Working on documents was just as easy as if the screen were flat. At a 2 or 3-foot viewing distance, image distortion wasn’t noticeable. The Samsung G7 Odyssey monitor is an even better and more fantastic option for gaming because of its super-fast 240Hz refresh rate. Based on our analysis, the Samsung 27" G5 Odyssey and Samsung 27" Odyssey G7 monitors both have a resolution of 2560 x 1440, which we found was excellent for gaming.

It supports VRR technology to lessen screen tearing and has an incredibly low input lag. Unfortunately, it isn’t the best choice for co-op gaming because of its poor ergonomics and poor viewing positions. Another factor that determines the screen quality is the SDR. The SDR peak brightness of the Samsung G5 is pretty decent. Brightness is remarkably constant throughout various content, with the exception of the 2 percent window that is noticeably darker due to frame dimming. Following the curved gaming monitor launch in 2020, Samsung now offers a variety of Odyssey monitors in flat-screen design, ranging from 24 to 28 inches. The new lineup delivers hyper-real picture quality, a higher response level, tailored ergonomics and intuitive usability. Together with these latest features, gaming enthusiasts can enjoy real-world colours, pinpoint accuracy and sharp response speeds for their PC and console gaming entertainment devices.

The stand is substantial. There’s is a bit of wobble at the pivot point, but no more than one would expect from such a large panel. Adjustments include 4.7 inches of height, 15 degree swivel to either side, 9/13 degree tilt and a portrait mode. We’re not sure when one would use a 1000R curved monitor in portrait mode, but if you think of a reason, this is one of the only such screens that can do it. Unfortunately, the Samsung G5 monitor has poor ergonomics. It could be challenging to arrange it in the best viewing position because it just has a limited range of tilt adjustment. Plastic with texture makes up the monitor’s rear. Another feature that makes gaming a lot more fun on Samsung G5 vs G7 is the VRR, which is mostly used in conjunction with gaming via FreeSync or G-Sync. Ostensibly as a bid to lessen screen tearing, the Samsung G5 supports FreeSync Premium Pro straight out of the box. Updated to Test Bench 1.2, resulting in changes to the results and scores with the Response Time and Input Lag. Added tests for Console Compatibility and macOS compatibility and made minor changes to other tests, which you can see in our Changelog. However, screen size also plays a role in the gaming experience. A bigger screen allows you to see more detail at a more comfortable size. While a high resolution is important for detail and crispness, a bigger screen allows you to see that detail at a more comfortable size. For example, a 27-inch monitor with a resolution of 1440p (3440 x 1440) will let you see a lot more detail than a 1080p (1920 x 1080) monitor of the same size. The numbers in the resolution stand for the number of pixels per line. So a 1920 x 1080 resolution monitor would have over 2 million pixels total.
