If you're looking for a swoon-worthy romance that'll make your love butterflies flutter, this is the one! THE TENSION. Seriously, for a good part of this book I felt like I was napping under a hydraulic press that had an edging kink. I absolutely lived for it. Jessica writes such good tension that felt so natural and carefully woven that it made me AGONIZE but in a DELICIOUS way. When Cassie closes her account and Aiden goes MIA, she desperately needs a job to avoid ending up homeless. Enter a live-in nanny ad for a 9-year-old girl. Guess who hires her? Yep, it's Aiden! Initially oblivious to their connection, Cassie faces a dilemma—should she spill the beans and risk her dream job? 🤔🤫 This book is a trip in so many ways. The characters are awesome. Funny, vulnerable, a tad crazy, delightful. Cassie and Aiden together are on fire.

I loved this book, and it’s a particularly impressive début. The story is tight and well-written, the protagonists feel anchored and don’t fall into archetypes, and the emotional stakes are high. I loved Cassie and Aiden, who are both dealing with a lot and have needs not being met. Aiden is emotionally vulnerable, due to being new to single fatherhood, and feeling like he doesn’t have anything to offer a partner. He feels insecure about being a good dad to Sophie, especially due to the fact that his job is incredibly demanding. Cassie came from a loveless home and she’s had to work to support herself since age eighteen, which makes it hard for her to be open with another person. She’s empathetic and caring, but has a hard time accepting love, which makes sense for her character. The sexual tension between Aiden and Cassie is like the most decadent chocolate and the payoff is definitely rewarding. It left me hot and bothered. I really liked THE NANNY, but it is surprisingly spicy! The spice begins early and does not let up throughout the whole book. So keep a water towel nearby! The story is good, lots of twists that keep the tension tight, but nothing too preposterous. I really enjoyed the character of Aunt Iris as Cassie's foil. Iris is rigid, fearful, and difficult to get to know, but still a good person. She brings wonderful tension into the story. The Pacing—A perfect breezy book with the right amount of depth. You can easily read this in one sitting! Just when all hope seems lost, an ad for a live-in nanny position seems like the solution to all her problems. It’s almost too perfect—until she meets her would-be employer.Every single chapter, I had to read their small talk and discussing their plans for the day. I had to sit through Cassie taking Sophie and her new friend to the zoo. I had to read about Aiden’s work crises, like scallions being left out of the refrigerator. I had to read sex scenes about the most two-dimensional characters I’ve ever read about going at it like robots reciting lines from some sort of AI porn. Speaking of robots, Aiden seemed to be malfunctioning and constantly repeating the phrases, “I’m trying,” and “Everyone’s a critic”—to which Cassie was programmed to respond, “Poor baby.”

The premise is simple. Girl and Guy meet through “OF”. Girl becomes Guy’s daughter’s babysitter (without either realizing). What could go wrong, or right? 🤷‍♀️🤔 Hi, I would like to start out by saying that I claim Cameron as my own. I am so sorry to all who oppose this, but he is mine now.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts. And dear reader, I leave it up to your imagination as to what is likely to happen when two attractive single adults live in together under one roof (with a child). Don't even get me started on Cameron. That thigh-tattoo having, darling-calling, pottery-teaching slut of a man (a metaphorical slut, as it were, and we don't slut shame, we slut celebrate). I love him so much. He knows exactly what he is doing, and we are better for it. I love how these two are exactly what the other needs and it takes them almost an entire book to realize. There was a big to-do about Sophie being such a difficult child who ran off several nannies already, but it turned out she was just, like, a normal child? And Cassie wins her over in one or two interactions via regular human decency? That was odd. From the moment we met R'Jaal on the island and saw him making sad eyes because Marisol did LISTEN I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR R'JAAL'S BOOK FOR EONS.

Nothing exciting happened in the story besides Cassie and Aiden’s romance, but I need more than just a romance plot to keep me interested. So I started skimming around 30% because both characters would drone on with internal dialogue about their attraction to the other or just describe the day. It was boring writing unless the MCs were interacting directly, so the story as a whole was underwhelming. This book is now my entire personality. It’s my wish on a shooting star (I JUST WANT A HOT DADDY CHEF OKAY??). It’s my white whale. In layman’s terms (a thing a character played by Steve Carell once said): It’s the perfect combination of sexy and cute. Smart, fun, sexy, and sizzling with romantic tension, The Nanny is a mouth-wateringly delicious take on second chances with a healthy dash of steam. I can't wait for more from Lana Ferguson! * Sara Desai, author of The Singles Table *This steamy, romantic comedy puts a modern spin on traditional tropes, bringing the falling-for-the-nanny and secret-past storylines into the 21st century…Readers who enjoyed Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone’s A Merry Little Meet Cute will adore this positive, upbeat, sex-filled romp.”— Library Journal Everything about this book made me feel like it was written for ME (sure, I know this isn't the case, but I choose to live in a world where I obliviously believe that it is anyway). Chandler was so...just...RELATABLE I felt every bit of her uncertainty, her imposter syndrome; her character was written in a way that inspires you to root for her, and in turn inspires you to root for yourself too. A woman discovers the father of the child she is nannying may be her biggest (Only)Fan in this steamy contemporary romance by Lana Ferguson.
