Description

Action Man was an animated series that aired from 1995-1997. It was produced by Mainframe Entertainment and originally aired in syndication. The show follows the adventures of the 'Action Man,' a soldier whose real name is Ian Noble. He and his team of international agents, known as the Action Force, fight against the evil organization, Venom, headed by the villainous Doctor X. The team travels the world to stop Venom's nefarious plans, using high-tech gadgets and vehicles to help them along the way. In the United Kingdom, four VHS were released by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and later reissued by Buena Vista Home Entertainment, containing three episodes per tape. One VHS release was also released by Maximum Entertainment. The Action Man Underwater Explorer was launched in 1970 (following on from the success of the Navy Frogman and Deep Sea Diver of the 1960s) and was available with many new accessory sets - representing a comprehensive underwater adventure toy. The Underwater Explorer is missing from the 1975 and 1976 Equipment Manuals but is included in all until the end of Palitoy in 1984. There were variations to the main outfit and modifications throughout a long run. However the Treasure Hunter and Underwater Film Unit sets and individual accessories had short runs of a year or two and can be considered rare. Action Man Underwater Explorer Sets: 35007: First Appearance of: Doctor X (new body). Cameo Appearance by: Coach Grey and Brandon Kaine. Final Appearance of: Doctor X (original body). My heart goes out to his wife Hannah (who he married a precious few days ago), his band mates, countless friends, relatives and family. Bravery was, and has to be everywhere now and we mourn the loss of a fine fellow.

The animation in the show is top-notch, with fluid movement and detailed character designs. The action sequences are particularly impressive, with lots of explosions, fights, and intense moments that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The cinematography is also noteworthy, with dynamic camera angles and interesting shot compositions that make every scene visually stimulating. As a postscript, although Palitoy ceased production of Action Man in the early 1980s and indeed went out of business in 1986, Hasbro went on to produce Action Man, based on the British idea! Smartwatches aren’t a passing fad, and while they’re unlikely to replace meticulously made timepieces worn by Swiss watch purists, even the luxury brands have embraced tech in recent years, replacing precise mechanical gears and springs with touchscreens and computing power. You may not keep an Apple Watch as a family heirloom, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a stylish device to have strapped to your wrist. Internationally, we reach as far as Hong Kong ( Police Story, Hard-Boiled), Australia ( The Road Warrior), England ( Kingsman: The Secret Service), France ( La Femme Nikita), Indonesia ( The Raid: Redemption), Korea ( The Villainess), and beyond.

The new Action Men ar best described as 'My first Action Man' as he is firmly targeted at a new generation of kids (age 3+). Coined as Kids Action Man or 'KAM' there are two distinct product lines:The villains of the show are equally as interesting as the heroes. Doctor X is the head of Venom, a shadowy organization hell-bent on taking over the world. He is a mastermind with an army of loyal minions at his disposal. He is aided by his second-in-command, Baroness, a femme fatale with a cunning mind and deadly skills. The Baroness is joined by her partner-in-crime, the shape-shifting creature named Professor Gangrene. Together, these villains make for formidable foes for the Action Force. Brandon Caine begins trying to prevent Doctor X from controlling him and seeks help from Alex and his team to try and stop X and his plans. This involves returning to the now sunken oil rig in a bid to access information, but all is not as quiet as first thought.

Dr. X captured and physically tested Alex Mann repeatedly, as well as his longtime rival & best friend Brandon Caine. Dr. X also added nanotech enhancements to Brandon, making him superior to Alex in athletics, only for them to have side effects. The culmination of the experiments was to mind transfer Dr. X into Brandon's body, becoming his younger self & nanotech cyborg, able to change his appearance and infect others. Following the ninth episode the series becomes more simplified. Dr. X founded the Council of Doom with his evil cohorts: assassin Asazi and weather manipulating scientist Tempest. Dr. X's nanotech trilobites appeared to gain collective intelligence and rebel against him, but this was actually Brandon Caine's uploaded mind punishing Dr. X. Colchester Collections' exhibit within Colchester Castle's Museum, Essex showcased part of Rob Wisdom's vintage Action Man Collection. We learned today of the sad passing of an inspiration. Steve Gilmour must remain the undesputed king of the still life Action Man action shot. His peerless images captured the creative imaginations of thousands of Action Man and GI Joe fans worldwide. An amazingly talented and intelligent designer, photographer, drummer, in a short time Steve lit our hobby up with his limitless enthusiasm and imagination, giving us iconic images through Toywithit - like ones we imagined for ourselves when life was simpler and childhoods were surrounded with toys, fun and play. His peerless work will live on and Steve set a bar I feel may never be bettered. The original Action Man was based on a real soldier in the British army and came complete with a scar on his cheek.Action Man is the iconic British boy's toy of the 1960s and 70s. He was designed and produced in Coalville, Leics. by Palitoy Ltd. However he was based on a toy, GI Joe, produced by the USA company Hasbro and many of his parts were manufactured in the Far East. He exemplifies the move towards a globally based system of mass production in the 1960s.The original Action Man was based on a real soldier in the British army and came complete with a scar on his cheek. He isn't wearing a British uniform. The basic 60s Action Man came with a very basic American GI uniform, and that's what this one is wearing, without his cap. The basic Action Man, without optional accessories, didn't even have a helmet. All the uniforms were American, and your basic Action Man came as Army, Navy or Air Force, but all were American uniforms. And all the accessories were American too. Only in the late 60s did Palitoy produce a range of uniforms, to be bought as accessories, of different WWII armies. There was a British rival, made by Pedigree and called Tommy Gunn, but he was never as successful as Action Man, and didn't have such a big range of accessories.

Good news for adults collectors is that a much more advanced and articulated range is being develop and will follow in line sure to be popular with collectors in 2019.
