Description

Organised by type of takeaway, there are dishes to recreate from the chippy, pizzeria, diner and more. If I'm in the mood for a pad Thai delivered to the door, I'm not in the mood to spend an hour-and-a-half at the stove with a work surface full of stuff and a long recipe. I love the brief synopsis on the recipes, whereby it may give recommendations, alternatives or even some of Chris’ own personal feedback. Recipes we love: Grilled Chicken Katsu Curry, Oven-baked Falafel with Roasted Pepper Dip, Healthy Scampi, and the Ultimate Chicken Burger.

These are great for a packed lunch, served with a basic pilau rice or Indian Fried Rice, or even for a picnic with some salad! I left out the tuna on some for a vegetarian option and next time I might try out a couple of other fillings like green beans or omelette. If you’re looking for more delicious, slimming friendly inspiration then check out our most recent Breakfast and Everyday Light recipes.

Chinese food is ideal for a veggie diet as it makes the most of fresh vegetables and meat substitutes, and uses very little dairy - but at the same time packs fantastic flavour into everything.

Put curries, stir-fries, burgers and chips back on the menu with 100 simple recipes for takeaway-inspired meals that needn't feel like junk food! EWFL star, Chris Bavin is back with a brand new cookbook to help you recreate healthier and cheaper versions of your favourite takeaway dishes at home. What I thought: This sauce was dangerously good, mild in spice and quickly made hotter with a few slices of fresh chilli on top! If you’re looking for something delicious from closer to home, take a look at our Everyday Light and Quick Meals categories for more no-nonsense recipes.

and presents "Food: Truth or Scare"; "The Truth About Meat"; "Tomorrow's Food"; and "The Truth about Obesity". What I thought: When you get home after a long day at work, it is so tempting to dial in something for dinner. The finished result was tasty and flavourful – with a great balance of saltiness, sweetness and heat – along with a dose of satisfaction for the money and calories saved. Chris Bavin’s recipe is so straightforward and quick to do – it only took about 30 minutes from start to finish. I also made a quick egg-fried rice (pre-cooked cheat's brown rice with two eggs and a red onion) and stir-fried pak choi to serve. Say goodbye to takeaway and hello to fakeaway, with this all-encompassing comfort cookbook brought to you by popular BBC TV chef and presenter, Chris Bavin.
