Villains were wonderful. They got to be cruel and selfish, to preen in front of mirrors and poison apples, and trap girls on mountains of glass. They indulged all their worst impulses, revenged themselves for the least offense, and took every last thing they wanted. Rovina Cai’s art is truly so beautiful that it renders me speechless. I was already in love with her and her art because of her work with The Wayward Children series, but this entire book feels like am immersive work of art. From the perfect color palette, to the most perfect details, she executes the vibe of Cardan and his story in a way that I don’t think another artist could. It's been months since I bought TCP, and the moment it arrived at my humble abode I started to read it, thinking to myself "I will start today and maybe read a few chapters".

From what I have said so far, you might think that this is a Cardan-centric version of The Lost Sisters, which shows events of The Folk of the Air from sister Taryn’s point-of-view. But it is very different. Unlike other Folk of the Air books, How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories is not told in the first person. It is told in the third person, although exclusively from inside Cardan’s head, a very different place from the inside of Taryn’s head. I suppose I would have plummeted out of the air,” Jude tells him with troubling equanimity, her expression saying, Horrible risks are entirely normal to me .

As I was reading, I would often stop to just soak in the illustrations. They truly brought these stories to life and gave them the magical quality of an old-time fairy tale. wait omg what if we finally find out what cardan was gonna say when he was like "about last night.." but Jude cuts him off to say she got it out her system...don't touch me It turned out that Cardan didn’t have a heart of stone after all. As he removed his shirt and sank to his knees, as he fisted his hands and tried not to cry out when the strap fell, he burned with hatred. Hatred for Dain; for his father; for all the siblings who didn’t take him in and the one who did; for his mother, who spat at his feet as she was led away; for stupid, disgusting mortals; for all of Elfhame and everyone in it. Hate that was so bright and hot that it was the first thing that truly warmed him. Hate that felt so good that he welcomed being consumed by it.

I'm so proud of her character development, and in all honesty, she's one of the strongest and best female characters in all of the literary world (in my opinion, of course). This new instalment in the Folk of the Airseries is a return to the heart-racing romance, danger, humour and drama that enchanted readers everywhere. Each chapter is paired with lavish and luminous full-colour art, making this the perfect collector’s item to be enjoyed by audiences both new and old.

I mean who wants to see Cardan and Nicasia together?!?!?! I wanted more JURDAN moments.🥺😭 Instead there were like about 2-3(?) short stories on them out of 11??? Cardan doesn't deserve what happened to him in his past, it's so sad, why would anyone want to harm my baby?? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH- But for real, I loved this so much. The art was gorgeous, and this one piece actually made my heart skip a beat, it was phenomenal. I remember when I read this that I tried to stretch it out but I finished it in one day, and it was actually on Christmas.

How the King of Elfhame Learned To Hate Stories (2020) is a companion novella that focuses on Cardan's perspective. [7] The Cruel Prince [ edit ] Plot [ edit ] Our story begins with the Prince, now the King of Elfhame flying over waves as he thinks about the winding path of decisions that brought him here, racing over the sky as he tries to become the hero, instead of the villain. A prince of Faerie who once slept in the hay of the stables listening to the sounds of faerie steeds, of deer and elk, and even the croaks of great riding toads, who listened to the stories of Aslog of the West. The story begins with Jude and her two sisters. As children their parents were murdered and they were whisked away to live in the High Court of Faerie. Now nearly an adult, Jude desperately wants to belong there despite being human. This is a storybook that you want to have in your collection. It has a feeling of a fairytale of old, and while dark, does have some glimmers of hope interspersed within it that will delight every reader. Get it on your list, you’re going to want to read it!

Okay, and the illustrations that were included. They were absolutely beautiful and complimented the book perfectly. Oh, and the very last story. Of course. Vivienne "Vivi" Duarte: Eva and Madoc's daughter; Justin's adopted daughter; Jude and Taryn's half-sister; Oak's adoptive sister; Heather's girlfriend Caelia Greenbriar: Daughter of Eldred; Sister to Balekin, Dain, Elowyn, Rhiya and half-sister to Cardan; Killed by the Ghost Il seguito del mio fastidio: Jude, la nostra protagonista, si ritrova da dieci anni a vivere nel mondo magico con le sue sorelle Taryn e Vivi. Vivi appartiene a quel mondo, mentre le due gemelle sono completamente umane.

Plus there’s his romantic relationship with Nicasia and how he tries to convince himself that he could rule with her in the Undersea. I also liked getting to know just what happened for the relationship to end and why Cardan stopped caring for her.
